Sept. 11 InnoVentures U Negotiations Seminar

3 September, 2014

You are invited to attend:

Know When to Walk Away —

The Art of Negotiation

Thursday, September 11, 2014, 8 AM to 10:00 AM

Where: 100 Cummings Center, Beverly — Conference Room 221 E

If you look at the negotiation process as a whole, it may be overwhelming. Yet, when you break the process down into individual steps, it can be seen as an activity of research, exploration, and imagination.

In this seminar, you will learn how to:

  • Deconstruct the negotiations process into its individual steps
  • Identify your monetary and intrinsic value
  • Determine your needs and the needs and wants of the other party, as well as their monetary and intrinsic value
  • Develop your BATNA (best alternative to a negotiated agreement) and your walk away point

As entrepreneurs, your ability to negotiate with confidence and knowledge is a key to your success. The best deal presented to you on paper might not be the best deal in reality. Understanding how to negotiate will protect you from giving your business away by signing an exploitive agreement that could limit your ability to innovate.

Matt Rogers, an entrepreneurship consultant, will lead this interactive training seminar designed to help you become an effective negotiator. You’re encouraged to bring your own examples of business negotiations and challenges.

Matt Rogers:

My own journey began when I earned my B.S. in leadership from Northeastern University. I was a non-traditional student returning to college after a 10-year absence. That experience instilled in me a passion for learning. I went on to earn an MBA from Suffolk University. Three years later, I earned a post-grad certificate in bilingual education from the University of Notre Dame, which helped me understand different learning styles and how I could better coach adults.
