NSIV is pleased to announce that Marc Bazin, founder and president of HepatoChem, Inc., has joined the advisory board of the Life Sciences Consortium of North Shore. In this role, Marc provides an entrepreneurial perspective on the many facets of being a biotech startup.Marc has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years. His expertise includes organic synthesis, biomimetic catalysis and automation. Prior to founding HepatoChem in 2008, he was a senior scientist at Pfizer, Cambridge, Mass. and in France. He was also employed by Servier Research Institute from 1995 to 2003. Marc holds an MS in organic chemistry from the CNAM, France, and has held a visiting scientist position at Princeton University.
As a biotech member of North Shore InnoVentures (NSIV), HepatoChem offers pharmaceutical and biotech companies reliable and efficient access to small molecule metabolites in order to accelerate drug R&D and reduce costs.
About the Consortium
Formally established in 2012 by Endicott College, Gordon College, Salem State University, North Shore Community College, and North Shore InnoVentures, the Life Sciences Consortium of the North Shore (LSCNS) came together with the following mission and goals:
Workforce Development and Training
• Educate students in the life sciences, industry best practices, and next generation instrumentation.
• Expand opportunities for internships and employment of graduates.
• Provide additional training for incumbent workers in the region.
Collaborative Industry Support
• Improve the instrumentation at non-profit institutions for training and use by new companies, and promote collaborative efforts between industry and academia.
• Provide resources to foster the success of new companies.
