Biotech Startups Struggle to Find Space in Kendall Square
Beverly, MA — June 15, 2015 — Recently Nature, the international weekly journal of science, published an article concerning the lack of available space in Kendall Square. As Boston is the home of one of the most robust biotech communities in the world, young biotech startups yearn to find a space in Cambridge in Kendall Square; however, space is running out. Although Kendall Square is an attractive prospect to young companies as it is surrounded by investors, patent lawyers, suppliers, and dozens of bio-medical firms, it is almost impossible to find a space because existing large companies continue to expand their offices and laboratories. You can read more about this competition by reading the full article at nature.com.
But take note; space is available on the North Shore. Young biotech startups can still be a part of Boston’s robust biotech community without occupying Kendall Square. The North Shore provides a prime environment for young startups to be provided with lab and office space yet still have access to the biotech hub of Boston. The best example of this is our very own North Shore InnoVentures, a biotech and clean energy incubator located in Beverly, MA. Although not located in Kendall Square, NSIV provides promising young companies office space, shared laboratories and equipment, sponsored professional services, successful entrepreneur mentors, and investor advisers. NSIV is able to accelerate the growth of innovative startups in the cleantech and biotech sectors by helping its member companies refine their business strategies, conserve capital, build strong teams, and achieve development and funding milestones.
