North Shore Innoventures Ultra-Cold Freezer Loaned to Support the AJH COVID-19 Vaccine Program
North Shore InnoVentures, a Beverly-based business incubator, loaned a critical piece of equipment for vaccine distribution to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.
Beverly, Mass., December 18, 2020 –This week, as hospitals around the country enthusiastically prepared to receive the first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, they were also dealing with the logistical challenges of maintaining the vaccine’s ultracold storage requirements. The Anna Jaques Hospital team learned that North Shore InnoVentures (NSIV), a non-profit technology incubator in Beverly, had extra ultra-cold freezer capacity. NSIV CEO Chris Ilsley was pleased to be able to offer an ultra-cold (-80 degree) freezer for AJH use, and was willing to arrange free delivery through business partner, Tobin Scientific.
“The crisis has been a personal battle for many of us. NSIV is happy and proud that we can make the loan of this vital piece equipment as a vaccination program begins and we start the journey of getting back to normal. We look forward to continuing to identify ways we can work together going forward as a community,” said Ilsley.
NSIV Board member and Newburyport resident Bob Barton was onsite to witness AJH receiving the large freezer at the loading dock. “NSIV is thrilled to be working with another North Shore organization to battle this virus. We are thrilled that the excess freezer capacity we had is able to be put to the most excellent use. Everyone in the greater Newburyport area will benefit from this collaboration,” said Bob.
As AJH rolls out its vaccination program for COVID patient-facing staff and eventually for the community, the NSIV ultra-cold freezer will provide the safest possible storage for medication.
