CROWDCOMFORT ANNOUNCES $273,000 ROUND OF SEED FUNDING
CrowdComfort platform crowdsources building maintenance and comfort reporting
Beverly, MA – December 4, 2013—CrowdComfort, a sustainable clean energy technology company that helps facilities managers make faster decisions by crowd-sourcing geo-located building maintenance and environmental compliance data in real time, has raised $273,000 seed round led by CrowdComfort’s founding team. Investors include several angel investors and one corporate investment.
According to CrowdComfort Chief Executive Officer B. Eric Graham, “CrowdComfort empowers building occupants to report maintenance and comfort issues that are critical to their comfort, health, and safety. The data and analytics that CrowdComfort provides is going to be essential to the future of how buildings operate,” concluded Graham.
CrowdComfort was founded by a team that includes B. Eric Graham, Galen Nelson and Kevin Loos. It was conceived during the Cleanweb Hackathon and Data Jam Challenge, which was sponsored by the White House and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
According to Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Chief Executive Officer Alicia Barton, “High tech startup companies like CrowdComfort are the hallmark of the Massachusetts innovation economy. Drawing on our strengths in clean energy and IT, CrowdComfort is poised to do what Massachusetts start-up companies do best– develop promising ideas into game-changing solutions for commercial markets,” concluded Barton.
The Data Jam competition was designed to demonstrate the impact of applying information technologies to energy and resource constraints, known as the cleanweb. CrowdComfort was chosen as “Boston’s Best New Idea” at Data Jam and,“Judge’s top pick” at Green Biz’s VERGE Accelerate competition. Already installed at three alpha sites – Enernoc, Greentown Labs, and North Shore InnoVentures – accounting for 150,000 square feet and 500 employees around the Boston area, CrowdComfort will launch new beta sites in December including the MBTA and GE.
